his paper focuses on a cross-media approach to the fictional character of Orpheus seen as a classical topos who has been represented through different kind of media for many centuries. The evolution and popularity of the pastoral genre in Renaissance Europe, linked to Orpheus and its fictional world, shows an enhancement of the pastoral universe that could be understood as a transmedia narrative which could be read and enjoyed today if every asset related to it were digitally tagged under the principle of the internet of things.
