Although it refers to a research carried out in Lima between 1994 and 1999, it is not to describe the Peruvian reality of the 1990, or to present a comprehensive analysis of child labor and social policies that have been implemented until today. Its objective is rather to illustrate a set of approaches that, at the micro level, allow to understand everyday practices of children and adolescents street workers. In order to show the significance of economic, social, cultural and identity dimensions, material from two others qualitative studies on children’s work in Portugal and in Greece are presented. The underlying assumption of this analysis is that a better understanding of children’s everyday practices and their families facilitates appropriate and more efficient programs.http://journals.openedition.org/bifea/4287childhoodworkstreetfamilysocializationsurvival |
