Summary:We consider a system of nonlocally coupled phase oscillators and perform a linear stability analysis of the plane wave solutions of the system. Consequently, we demonstrate the stability of the solution associated with a particular wavenumber and also the robustness of the stability against the heterogeneity of natural frequencies. The mathematical model is valid in any spatial dimension, and the theoretical results are confirmed via direct numerical simulations.
