Summary: | This article discusses the reality of public education currently discussed here due to the
existence of certain barriers in advancing education. The main objective was to discuss the current
difficulties that permeate the process of teaching and learning. The research method was qualitative with
a theoretical background on readings from writers who discuss this topic as Demo (2004), Trinity (Ed.)
(2007) and Libâneo (2007), and also seeking data through questionnaires applications, applied to teachers
and school staff. The results indicate that teachers are increasingly looking to improve their formations,
to offer a better quality of education. But there are obstacles such as lack of teaching resources, books that
do not bring the local reality of students and low minimum wage that forces teachers to have an extensive
workload, and this complicates the planning of lessons. It concludes that, although these professionals
seek for better training in their teaching areas, there is an urgent need for better working conditions for
the implementation of a more effective teaching and a significant appreciation of the profession, which by
the way is strategic for development either of which country in the world.
