Description
Summary:This article focuses on gender perceptions and practices of women holders of the Bolsa Família Program, focusing on the issue of care, and seeks, in turn, to articulate two categories of analysis, gender and generation. We deal with the perceptions of these women around their life experiences and expectations of the future and we reflect on the comparisons they make between their condition and that of their mother. We contrast perceptions and practices of women, according to age groups, with respect to domestic and family life. The analyzes consider variables that tend to affect the dynamics of the family groups, such as the presence or not of the spouse, the presence or not of children of child-care age and the exercise or not of paid work. The data analyzed were produced through case studies conducted in Curitiba (Paraná) and Fortaleza (Ceará), in the years of 2013 and 2014.
