In the second stage, the 50 remaining items were applied to 739 high school students from public and private schools, 14 through 20 years of age, 55% girls. The data submitted to principal components analysis and to varimax rotation, resulted in a scale of 28 items, explaining 36.11% of the variance, which were categorized as learning goal, performance-approach goal and performanceavoidance goal.
