In 2010, he graduated magna cum laude in history at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, with a thesis on Historiography and nationalism in Ceausescu’s Romania. In 2012, Zavatti received a scholarship from the Helge Axelsson Johnsons Foundation (Sweden) supporting his archival researches in Eastern Europe for his doctoral dissertation.
