Summary: | This article deals with the clientele that commissioned the home architectural projects of Paulo Mendes da Rocha, who favored the aesthetics of exposed concrete. First, I examine the architect’s professional trajectory and his rise to international renown, ultimately leading to him being awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most prestigious award in the field. Then I focus on the social profile of some of his clients, passionate commissioners invested in avant-garde architecture. Finally, I address the movement of these goods in the real estate market in order to point out differences between the original commissioners and the current owners. |
