Hull strength assessment for inland and mixed navigation ships in service

Object and purpose of research. This paper studies inland and mixed (river-sea) navigation carriers. The purpose of the study is to develop the procedure for direct verification calculations of residual local strength for hull structures. Materials and methods. The analysis relied on the database of...

The purpose of the study is to develop the procedure for direct verification calculations of residual local strength for hull structures. Materials and methods. The analysis relied on the database of Marine Engineering Bureau and Rules of classification societies. The analysis was performed by means of naval structural mechanics. Main results. The paper confirms that the wave loads taken in local strength calculations for ships in service can be reduced. The study yielded the coefficients of acceptable stresses in beams and plates to confirm that their residual strength in service is sufficient. Conclusion. This procedure enables justified technical decisions for worn-out plates, beams, frames and ceilings for the purposes of regular checks and hull retrofit projects, which is impossible with the current regulatory basis.http://transactions-ksrc.ru/eng/archive/Hull-strength-assessment-for-inland-and-mixed-navigation-ships-in-service/3 проблемы СМКinland and mixed (river-sea) navigation vesselsactual local strength of hull structuresrequirements of Russian River Registeractual wearresidual thicknesses3 issues with Quality Management Systemassignment of acceptable valuesacceptable stress coefficients
