It has required a high level of professionalism and skills from professional managers, whose decisions may quickly cause an impact over the companies` results they work for. These challenges could be even higher for family business, as they usually face difficulties in the succession process, with special concern for the role of inheritors and successors. The objective of this work is of developing a tool for analyzing the succession process in family business. The tolltakes theoretical aspects of succession together with concepts of processes` maturity scales. The tool’s first version was built from the literature review and submitted to testing process carried outby two stages: (i) with five experts in the enterprise succession field and (ii) with a professional executive simulating an actual application.
