This fact is not directly or strictly linked to the new structure, but the need to enhance aspects like the teaching in context or to use mathematical modelling to improve educational performance is generally accepted. We present a model of transmission of pests, for students of the first year degree in Environmental Sciences, as a motivating element that also integrates many concepts and topics that are discussed in Linear Algebra in a meaningful environment of mathematics. For the instrumental genesis of the model, the program MatlabQc is used.
