Facial asymmetry analysis comparison between digital postero-anterior radiograph and three dimensional image

A comparative descriptive study was performed in order to compare the cephalometric measures in Grummons analysis between a two-dimensional digital image and a three dimensional image in patients with facial symmetry. Materials and Methods: A CT Cone Beam (CTCB) of the full skull and a postero-anter...

Materials and Methods: A CT Cone Beam (CTCB) of the full skull and a postero-anterior (PA) digital x-ray was taken to ten patients with transverse asymmetry. In both images the Grummons Cephalometric analysis was applied. The measures taken at the CTCB were compared with measurements of PA radiographs, evaluating the level of agreement between measurements. Results: The measurement error for the CTCB was of 0.77 mm and for the PA radiograph was of 1.23 mm. Although for all measures, the differences between the two sides of the face were greater in the CTBC compared with the PA radiograph, only statistically significant differences were found for MSR-Ag and MSR-J (phttp://revistas.unicauca.edu.co/index.php/rfcs/article/view/101Imagen tridimensional, imagen bidimensional, tomografía computarizada de haz de cono, radiografía PA, análisis de Grummons
