Summary:In this article: Motivation to study in the light of the historical-cultural approach, it is made a critical and historical analysis of the antecedents of the process of motivation, from the theoretical and methodological point of view. The works made by researchers and followers of this approach are remarked, and it is presented the theoretical bases for the study and development of the process of motivation and motivation for study at present. It denotes the necessity and the importance of the revision of these contents for elaborating new problems to be solved in this area of educative and human development.
