Summary:The victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections of 2016 is a symptom of the crisis of democracy in USA. There was never in the American history such a big difference between the winner of the popular vote (Hillary Clinton), who lost the elections, and the winner of the electoral vote (Trump). The debate about the need of new constitutional amendments and a constitutional reform was never so dramatic. Moreover, the outcome of the elections is a security threat for the system of international relations. With such a Commander in Chief, the new geopolitical challege is”how to make democracy safe for the world”. The author is focused on some dramatic consequences of the last American elections: several popular protests against Donald Trump, and the perspective of breaking protest records in contemporary history; after the unipolarity era, USA is changing its geopolitical status in the world, with a President who already lost some of the strategic leverages built in the last five decades, and annoyed some of the key allies
