Summary:Pain and suffering are common issues in the mass media. But, at the same time, news about pain, specially on TV, usually arises many ethical mistakes. Both issues, news interest in human pain and the criticism about the way how it is handled mean a difficult duty for journalists: pain is a universal experience that must be informed, but it demands a treatment that respects both who take part in them and who receive them. The first part of this article is about the two main questions that sets its informatión: when it must be inform and how it must be done. In the second part, it is analized how pain characteristics are combined with televisión specific language and what consequences it has. The whole article is tackled from a deontological point of view.
