Description
Summary:This paper studies the literary space, the comprehension of the poetic and concretism in the poems “Morte e vida severina” and “O rio” by João Cabral de Melo Neto. This study is grounded in reviews by authors such as Bosi (1994), Borges Filho (2007), Santos (2006), Pinheiro Neto and Cavalcante (2009), Melo Neto (1983), among others. The poet writes the daily life of the backcountry men with his internal and external relations. The space can be analyzed through the eyes of the characters and/or at the place, forming a set that makes us perceive it. JoãoCabral writes both the physical and the social space, that determine his poetic, serving as the backdrop for the events. The poems draw upon the 'severina' life of the migrant from Brazilian Northeast, the struggle to achieve his destiny in search for better lives, experiencing the most diverse landscapes.
