Summary:Objetive: This article provides an overview of labor productivity in the manufacturing industry with emphasis on the structural heterogeneity and presents some discussions on the performance of productivity and its relationship to the process of desindustrialization occurred in recent decades. The contribution of each sector to the average national labor productivity level was presented. The dispersion statistics presented indicate that there was an increase in the heterogeneity of productivity growth between the sectors from 2007 to 2015. From the data presented, it was concluded that there was an increase in the structural heterogeneity and that the extractive industries, linked to natural resources, were the ones teat contributed most to the increase in structural heterogeneity.
