Description
Summary:At present there are few studies about the influence of organizational culture on project success. The majority has its focus in the Information Technology sector. The objective of this case study was to determine the impact of organizational culture on the effectiveness of project management in a company of the pharmaceutical sector Quantitative research was carried out by applying a survey to a sample of 66 project stakeholders. The data was collected between July and November 2018. The results showed that leaders and team members value the contribution of the projects to the achievement of the strategy, although it is necessary to promote the adoption of practices to manage the projects and the participation of the stakeholders. Increasing the level of team satisfaction and improving compliance with schedules require attention due to their low valuation. It was established that the project management effectiveness depends on the understanding of the project environment and the adaptation of the stakeholders to solve the problems. The contribution of the present study is to expand the existing theory in the areas of organizational culture and project management. Future research can determine cultural variables in a sample of organizations of the pharmaceutical sector, that allows to characterize the project context in this industry. Project offices and human resources areas can use the proposed tool and diagnose cultural aspects which require improvement to optimize the results of projects in their organizations.
