So far 48 species of sandflies have been identified falling in the genera PhlebotomusRondani & Berte and Sergentomyia Franca & Parrot. Genus Phlebotomus in Kenya is represented in fivesubgenera, namely Phlebotomus, Larroussius, Synphlebotomus, Paraphlebotomus and Anaphlebotomus.
