Scientific research contributes to the student's development, preparing him / her in a qualified way for the job market. In this sense, the objective of this research was to verify the students' perception regarding the relevance of scientific production in their academic and professional education. As specific objectives, the work aimed to investigate the students' understanding of initiation and scientific production, as well as to assess whether scientific production contributes to the professional formation of the student. The research is classified as quantitative, descriptive and bibliographic. It was used the technique of field survey or survey, consisting of the application of a questionnaire, with closed questions, for students in the management area of a higher education institution. The sample had 40 students who represented 65% of the enrolled students. Descriptive statistical technique was used for data analysis.
