After a few years of teaching, the new calculating formula of degree of freedom for the system is put forward, and the old formula is verified by two examples. The result shows that the new calculating formula and the current mainstream material formula calculation results are consistent, and the new formula is more helpful for students to understand the physical meaning of the calculation of degrees of freedom.https://doi.org/10.1051/matecconf/201817503018
