Description
Summary:The mud torrent of Chirleşti, located in the Carpathian Curvature, is an unusual body that combines torrent morphology with mudflow dynamics. Came into existence in early 1950s, as a result of a strong deforestation, this mud torrent has instantly threatened the settlements situated at his outlet. In 2010 the debris cone finally reached the main road and the railways that follow the Buzău valley. The morphometric survey of the whole mud torrent, between 2002 and 2010, coupled to rainfall data, allows specifying the dynamics of this original landform.
