In April 1536, a conquest expedition that leaves from Santa Marta travels across American territory before it arrives at lands controlled by the pre - Hispanic group known as Muiscas. Based on the study of hi storical documents that describe the food and nature of the American landscape, this articles discusses the difficulties that this expedition copes with once they are inland, especially alimentary preferences and unsuitable practices required by survival and getting supplies, the latter involves American wild animals.
