The role-playing between deaf: discourse and cognition

The role-playing is an activity that attends a several number of purposes, such as the practice ofmilitary strategies, the developing of competencies in different areas of knowledge, for example medicine, law, management, etc. This study aims to analyze the relation between speech and cognition among deaf individuals during their performance in the role-playing game. The material - corpus – was obtained from the recording of a role-playing session, where six deaf students was taking part of it. Considering the phenomenon of language and its magnitude it was possible to verify from the metaphorical view that a ludic situation, such as the role-playing, gives more than just a style of how to play. It was noticed that within the game itself underlies metaphors which are ordered by rules.
