Summary:This paper compiles and reflects on the Community Social Work, from its historical evolution and through the prism of the new social reality in Ecuador, from the singularity of the Canton Milagro and other ten surrounding cantons, Region 5, Ecuador. It was characterized by the loss of totalitarianism and the reorientation of the ways of social integration, questioned by the intervention of the National Plan for Good Living; this new reality prompted the reflection and rethinking of the Social Work and Community Development. With the intention of raising awareness and contribute to the concept of community, the approach and the Community dimension as an essential part of the subject’s identity, the points that address this article are: International Seminars, Practical and theoretical courses and Com- munity involvement. To train, professionalize, provide enough tools and skills, to perform them on the most vulnerable sectors in the Canton Milagro, from governmental and non-governmental institutions and the State University of Milagro. They take on the challenge of designing, managing and working for the common good, with some university extension projects or the social civil involvement, according to the requirements of their environment, leading social policies in the country, region and locality.
