Identified in a large hue of mixed categories, they came to reject their condition, falling back on the colonial justice in an attempt to establish their Indian origin. Based on this strategy, in a movement towards the redefinition and reconstruction of their identity, they forced their own recognition as Indians and, by force of law, granted their liberty in the slave society of the seventeenth century.http://journals.openedition.org/cal/7398BrazilXVIII centuryIndiansdeportationsidentity
