Rectal ulcer in a hemodialysis patient receiving Kayexalate®

Abstract Kayexalate can cause severe unrecognized GI lesions. Diagnosis of kayexalate crystals in GI biopsy samples is important. Pathologists and clinicians should work hand in hand. New drugs should be available to all patients to treat hyperkalemia.
