Análise de Clusters. Vantagens da Abordagem Baseada em Dinâmica de Sistemas

From a systemic and dynamic perspective, this theoretical essay aims to discuss how the process offormation and development of clusters can be analyzed. To do so, we review some pivotal studies inthe area such as the Marshallian perspective, the Italian case, the view of economic geography andthe competitiveness and innovation approach. Moreover, we review investigations based on dynamicapproaches for analyzing clusters such as the theory of the cluster life cycle and the system dynamics.We identify pieces of research that more recently have suggested the use of dynamics approaches basedon the fact that they adequate to capture the multiple facets of the process of formation and evolutionof spatial clusters. We conclude this essay by offering propositions for future empirical tests. Wehope that this essay guides the theoretical choices of the researchers interested in this research topic.
