This article focuses on the relations of cultural dominance, with the weight of the denial of identity throughout the human history. It traces how the hegemony functions, initially for the benefit of Greek colonists, then for the Roman empire in the Mediterranean basin, before modern times enable a redeployment towards the Atlantic. It opened issues and new comparative horizons which are still vivid in the wounded conscience of the dominated, who are able today, through back and forth experiences committing three continents, to regain their history and become subjects of their own life.
