Summary:Primary school age is one of the most important age periods in the development of personal qualities. A new social institution - school-appears in the child's life, and a dramatic change in the development of the social context takes place. There is a new socially significant and evaluated activity-educational activity, in which the circle of communication expands, and the teacher becomes the leading link in the child's relationship with the world around him. The article analyzes and examines the features of the formation of self-esteem, indicates the phasing, periodization and existence of dynamic intervals of self-esteem formation, studied and described in domestic and foreign psychological and pedagogical studies, on which the experimental part of the study was based. The aim of the work was to determine the relationship between the formation of self-esteem with academic performance and physical development in primary school children, based on the analysis of the literature data of psychological and pedagogical studies of domestic and foreign studies, the results of testing and questionnaires of students. The experimental study involved students of primary school age with different levels of academic performance, physical development, studying in a secondary school in the city of Kursk and attending sports clubs.
