Summary:The study of the vulnerability of societies and human factors is the center of concern of many authors. More specifily, the problem of flood hazard, a consequence of the anthropization of wetlands or floodplains, is of recent but marked interest. However, this research is still too rarely done in an operational perspective. But by questioning the past, it is possible to understand the mutations of the future. The case of the border village of Laplaigne, located on the edge of the Belgian Scheldt, is exemplary. Connected to the, he turned away from it and ignored it. Today, is not it time to imagine a new paradigm for inventing new territory development models that would reintroduce water into the landscape ?
