Description
Summary:In translating for the first time in Portuguese two papers written by the geographer H.C. Darby — On the relations of geography and history (1953) e The problem of geographical description (1962) —, our aim is to underline their methodological contribution to the historical geography such as the description and temporality of the landscapes and the relations between text and image. However, in order to denaturalise the arriving of a new foreign paper, we also pointed out the role of translations on the teaching of the history of geography in a peripheral nation such as Brazil. In methodological terms, the field of translation studies allows us to interrogate the current circulation of science and its geopolitical content.
