&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;O recurso &amp;agrave; exposi&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o cr&amp;iacute;tica das doutrinas anteriores &amp;eacute; um procedimento metodol&amp;oacute;gico usual em Arist&amp;oacute;teles. Mas a caracter&amp;iacute;stica distintiva do Livro I da &lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Metaf&amp;iacute;sica&lt;/em&gt; &amp;eacute; que, ao inv&amp;eacute;s de estabelecer uma nova doutrina, o exame dos predecessores serve para confirmar os pr&amp;oacute;prios conceitos aristot&amp;eacute;licos, os quais ele usa para avaliar os &amp;ecirc;xitos e os erros das doutrinas analisadas. Essa imposi&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o de conceitos pr&amp;oacute;prios lhe valeu a acusa&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o de ter uma compreens&amp;atilde;o hist&amp;oacute;rica distorcida. Com a an&amp;aacute;lise detalhada das cr&amp;iacute;ticas da teoria plat&amp;ocirc;nica das Id&amp;eacute;ias na &lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Metaf&amp;iacute;sica&lt;/em&gt; I, 9, pretendemos mostrar: a) que as cr&amp;iacute;ticas de manipula&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o e distor&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o das opini&amp;otilde;es dos seus antecessores ofuscam o grau em que as suas pr&amp;oacute;prias posi&amp;ccedil;&amp;otilde;es emergem de uma an&amp;aacute;lise cr&amp;iacute;tica do pensamento anterior; e b) que a imposi&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o de conceitos pr&amp;oacute;prios n&amp;atilde;o &amp;eacute; uma distor&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o, mas uma proposta de solu&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o para os problemas que as teorias anteriores deixaram sem solu&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;<br>The use of critical exposition of previous doctrines is a methodological procedure usual in Aristotle. But the distinctive characteristic of Book I of the &lt;em&gt;Metaphysics&lt;/em&gt; is that, rather than to establish a new doctrine, a review of&amp;nbsp; predecessors serves to confirm the own concepts to be used in the evaluation of the doctrines examined. This imposition of own terms has cost him the charge of distorting historical understanding. With the detailed analysis of the criticisms of Plato's theory of Ideas in &lt;em&gt;Metaphysics&lt;/em&gt; I, 9, we intend to show a) that the criticism of manipulation and distortion of his predecessors' views overshadow the degree to which Aristotle's own positions emerge from a critical review of previous thought and b) that the imposition of own terms does not suppose a distortion but a proposal of solution to the problems that previous theories have left unresolved.
