Description
Summary:The deconstruction of the maps achieved on violence in Colombia since forty years by the Colombian researchers in social sciences, has made it possible to follow the evolution of the perception of the phenomenon, and the taking into account of territorial dynamics in its interpretation. Initially conceived as simple illustrations, the maps on violence were integrated little by little into the reflection as instruments of analysis. Whereas its employment became systematic, especially since ten years, the cartography has enriched the traditional vision of violence, axed before on its political and institutional aspects. The historical heritage of the violencia of the Fifties, the more recent presence of the armed groups (guerrillas then paramilitary), the narcotrafic and the drug channels, the fight for the control of wealth, the violence in urban environment, the problem of displaced people, etc., were the subject of an exploration getting more and more methodical, on various scales (national, regional, intra-urban), which makes it possible today to draw up a rather complete panorama of territorial dimensions of violence in Colombia.
