Summary:Researchers agree on the key role played by professions in defining of modern Western States. But the current globalization processes and the changing of the labor market are leading a deep redefinition of the professional systems, Community-oriented. The redefinition processes of welfare services in a managerial way implies several questions concerning the use of a business approach, mainly aimed at maximizing advantages through the efficient use of available resources, in the public field of social services, oriented to promoting social well-being. The paper aims to analyze the professionalization status of the social manager in Italy, through a comparison among several classification systems of occupations (international system - ISCO08, US system – SOC, Italian system - CP2011), for observing the level of homogeneity in the current formalization of the social manager and which are the recurring jobs whose are conferred managerial tasks, at international level.
