Description
Summary:Teaching and researching are essential activities of instructors at universities and colleges, especially in case of classroom research or action research. However, few research studies on teaching Academic writing have been conducted at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at HCMC Open University. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the extent to which the writing instructors manage the activities in the writing classrooms in order to set lights for future action research. The survey questionnaire was administered at the 2nd semester of the academic year 2011-2012 to the Writing classes 1 & 3. 293 questionnaire papers were collected for data analysis. The results showed that most of the activities employed in the writing classrooms at the Faculty of Foreign Languages were in the mainstreams of the research trends in the world. In addition, some limitations of teaching activities were presented and discussed for better teaching adjustment.
