These strategies, which reinforce the image or the territory of the two poles of the communicative process, addressor and addressee, or that mitigate a possible attack to both, are put in the political language at the service of persuasion. Politeness is therefore appealed to in the political domain in order to enhance the image of the political party or the candidate and also to increase the votes.
