Summary:Abstract The purpose of this study was to describe the effectiveness of the use of mathematical physics textbook-based inquiry on Mathematical Physics to improving mathematical problem solving ability of students. The study design using pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this research are physics students who take courses in Mathematical Physics I. Based on the results of data analysis can be known (1) an increase in mathematical problem solving ability of students on average were moderate, 2) Independence of student learning after using inquiry-based textbook is good (3) the response of students to the textbook is fair. So it can be concluded that the use textbooks effective inquiry-based Mathematical Physics Mathematical Physics in lectures. Keywords: effectiviness, mathematical problem solving ability, based inquiry Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pengunaan buku ajar fisika matematika berbasis inkuiri pada perkuliahan Fisika Matematika dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik mahasiswa. Ranangan penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa fisika yang mengambil mata kuliah Fisika Matematika I. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat diketahui (1) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa rata-rata tergolong sedang, 2) Kemandirian belajar mahasiswa setelah menggunakan buku ajar berbasis inkuiri pada perkuliahan Fisika Matematika tergolong baik (3) respon mahasiswa terhadap buku ajar  tergolong baik. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan buku ajar Fisika Matematika berbasis inkuiri efektif dalam perkuliahan Fisika Matematika.  Kata-kata kunci: efektivitas, kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik, pendekatan inkuiri
