Summary: | In this article, we will discuss the first results of a technological study of Moche ritual ceramics by the means of laboratory methods. This research underlines the importance of taking into account the information available in the archaeological record (excavation of workshops), and those provided by the ethnographic survey in the interpretation of the archeometric data. In addition, this work tends to show that Moche ritual ceramics, far from being the result of a single technical concept, could be produced through different technical processes, often leading, from an aesthetic point of view, to similar results. |
