The rotor was replaced with new one, designed as synchronous reluctance cageless rotor with barriers, the shape and number of which were optimized to maximize the reluctance ratio. The torque measurement was done while the RSM was fed by frequency converter controlled by a microcontroller with closed loop field oriented control strategy to find out how saturation effects the developed torque at various values of the currents and speeds. It is shown how the load angle at which the maximum torque was achieved is changed.
