Description
Summary:In the context of a dedicated entomological survey mission of mobile sandy formations (dunes, nebkhas ...) and fixed by various perennial grasses in eastern Morocco, a newly identified specimen of the genus Scarabaeus of male sex has particularly caught our attention. Indeed, the great family of Scarabaeoidea whose species are mostly attracted to dung feces dominates the dune ecosystems in terms of number of species and individuals. The great taxonomic richness is denoted in Bouârfa region. It is the same for the abundance of which the high values are noted in this desertic station (Bouârfa). The low numbers of beetles in Saïdia region is related to the isolation of this type of dune in the region it is due primarily to the influence of the Mediterranean climate.
